There is no greater method for experiencing peace of mind and happiness than to meditate on emptiness. Since it is self-grasping that keeps us bound to samsara and is the source of all our suffering, meditation on emptiness is the universal solution to all problems. It is the medicine that cures all mental and physical diseases, and the nectar that bestows the everlasting happiness of enlightenment.
The Foundation Program (FP) provides a systematic presentation of particular subjects of Mahayana Buddhism to enable practitioners to deepen their knowledge and experience of Buddhism. The Program comprises five subjects based on Buddha’s Sutra teachings and the corresponding commentaries by Geshe Kelsang Gyatso.
Our present understanding and experience of Dharma is quite superficial. There is a big gap between our mind and Dharma and we cannot apply Dharma in our daily lives. Why is this? It is because we are not studying systematically, according to a specially designed program. If we just pick at Dharma randomly we shall never gain deep and stable experience. For this reason the spiritual programs offered in New Kadampa Tradition Centers are very important. —Geshe Kelsang Gyatso
